An internship at a foreign consulate will undoubtedly enable you to build vital skills that will enhance your employability.
As an intern you will gain exposure across a full range of consular activity.
The Consular Corps Melbourne have been operating for almost 90 years and has been a significant contributing factor to the continuing vibrance and growth of Melbourne and Victoria.
The Corps comprises all the accredited consular missions in Victoria. Presently there are 78 consulates made up from honorary consulates and career consulates.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Consular Corps assists undergraduate students interested in a career in diplomacy and international relations to find internship opportunities within its ranks.
Internships may be undertaken at a variety of career and honorary consulate posts in Melbourne in either the first or second semester.
You will have a background or demonstrable experience in public affairs, diplomacy or international relations. A second (or further) language will be highly regarded, as is solid academic performance. You should display an ability to think strategically and the capacity to express ideas clearly.
Excellent interpersonal skills and time management are a must. A police background check may be required in some cases.
